"FRAGILE" is dealing with (the value of) time and labour but also with the value of life and the body, the preciousness of our breath that equals life (time). The video mixes a poetic undertone with personal urgency to share an artistic view on society and how different kinds of labour are regarded and what time is worth (as well as a person when they don´t work in a certain way). Also, what is the worth of recreation? Is there still time for it in our daily lives?
As the fool can often say the truth (facing the trouble to not be believed), I see the artist having a similar role in society (and being frowned at for not doing any „serious“ work). In the video I used my own documentary footage recorded in Lisbon together with found footage. When I had started working on it I never imagined what was coming nor have I been thinking in that direction too specifically.
However, one of the video´s crucial sentences is „Breath as revolt“. Now, that the idea of breathing becomes ever more important and charged, the intention I had in mind back then and my view on the video now got blurred. I´m thinking a lot of breath gathered to revolt – and see it happen in far more ways than I had imagined.
